I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series ! These are now in my top 10 favorites of all time, and I've read quite a few different series of books throughout the course of my life. If you have not read these books, my advice is to buy the first one today and check it out ! My husband and I received this trilogy of books for Christmas, and I must admit that I had a hard time beginning to read the first book. As a high school graduate with no college education, I found that there were a Lot of "Big words" packed into the first couple of chapters of the first book that I was having a problem understanding. Purchasing them on my Kindle gave me access to the online dictionary, which helped immensely. And while there are a lot of "Big words" peppered periodically throughout the entire series, they do not take anything away from the numerous storylines, and I can assure you that the entire series is a much easier read after you get past the first couple of chapters. I am about to start the entire series all over again, I enjoyed them that much. Highly recommended series by this reader !!

After reading four installments to the series (or 2 volumes with 4 total parts, depending on how you look at it) I've come to love reading this series. Although this series doesn't beat out Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga, it certainly comes close enough to consider it one of my favorite sci fi series of all time.

With the first installment of the final volume of the trilogy you see a lot of stuff happening. Louise finally gets to Earth, which is a treat in and of itself. To read about Earth in the future and where it went, what it became and where it can go was a lot of fun. Ultimately a naive Louise become a pawn in the larger chess game of the possessed and non-possessed. We also have the liberation army on Ombey as they mobilize against the possessed. Until now we only got to see the might and awe of the possessed and their energistic power, but now we get to watch the awesome power of the Confederation Navy and Voidhawk war machine, and awesome it certainly is. Finally we get my favorite part of the series, reading about Joshua and the Lady Macbeth. His plot lines are always the most interesting because he is always right in the middle of everything, not too mention performs such amazing starship flights.

Which leads us to the aptly named part 1, that of Flight. It has been intriguing to see how Hamilton named the parts, showing the overarching theme of the overall installment. With Flight we see Joshua on the move, the possessed of Ombey, and the flight of Quinn, Fletcher, Louise and Genevieve. All aptly named, and certainly adds a lot to the story. A lot more is also revealed about the observers and the Kiint, which adds a lot of intrigue and expands the storyline. Definite recommend, both the book and the author.

Phenomenal. This is the only way that I can describe the final volume in such an epic space opera world. Hamilton held no punches and delivered unfailingly in not only entertaining us, but in creating a story with a deeper meaning.

The Naked God Faith is much more of an epic journey than the other 5 volumes in the series. With the conclusion we begin to see all the storylines begin to get tied up, never failing to surprise you, in some cases, or to satisfy you in others. The struggle for power on Earth continues as Louise becomes enmeshed in the machinations of B7 in their struggle to overcome the possessed. Capone and Kiera wage war on one another as they vie for control of The Organization and, ultimately, the destiny of New California. Calvert and Syrinx embark on a 1,000 light year voyage beyond the Orion Nebula to discover what or where the Sleeping God is. Throughout all of this you cannot help but be fascinated by Hamilton's ability to understand astronomy/astrophysics and translate it in a way that is enjoyable to read and an adventure unto itself. I found that I read as much for the story as for the space exploration that is utterly fascinating. Although the ending could seem anticlimactic I found that it fit perfectly into the story that Hamilton had created. After all, he did introduce these huge concepts not only with the Tyrathca and Vasilik, not to mention the possessed being able to transport a whole planet to an alternate universe, but also with the ability of Tranquility to open an event horizon and swallow to Jupiter. These are not alien concepts introduced at the very last second, these are all concepts that the reader accepted as part of the story, and ultimately used to facilitate an ending.

I can't sing praise enough for Hamilton and his Night's Dawn Trilogy. His ability to weave a story as immense as this one and still make many small plot developments completely relevant just blows me away. By the time the story ended I couldn't help but smile and get lost in thought of the epic journey I just went on. I thought nothing could top his Commonwealth Series, but The Night's Dawn Trilogy is certainly on par and may very well have surpassed it. A definite recommend for both author and series.

A strong finish to a long epic. Peter Hamilton manages to close out the trilogy with his characteristic elegance - while managing to maintain and resolve the storylines of a large collection of characters. He manages to tell a story of truly cosmic breadth and depth with an efficiency that belies the novel's (and the trilogy's) length. A remarkable storytelling feat. The only thing that kept this from being a 5-star novel (or trilogy) was the length ... to earn that 5-star rating, he would have had to tell the story in a few hundred less pages overall.

Bottom line - I recommend the entire trilogy to anyone who enjoys "a good long read".
